This study aims to analyze the potential of tourism products in this village using the 5A approach, which includes attractions, accessibility, amenity, accommodation, and tourism activities. This study used a qualitative approach through a field study, with data collection through observation and interviews with 8 informants including the management of the Pokdarwis, homestay owners, UMKM actors, art actors, and operators of tourist attractions. The results found that Sedau Tourism Village offers a variety of natural, cultural and man-made attractions, but accessibility and supporting facilities are still a challenge, while accommodation limited to homestays needs to be developed. Diversification of tourism activities is also urgently needed to increase the attractiveness of this village. This research recommends improving road infrastructure, providing eco-friendly transportation, and developing supporting facilities and community-based accommodation. In addition, the utilization of digital technology, such as virtual tour applications, is also suggested to improve the introduction and experience of tourism in Sedau Tourism Village.
Herman Herman Putri Rizkiyah Achlan Fahlevi Royanow Saiful Fahmi Hendri Yadi Saputra Copyright (c) 2025 Herman Herman , Putri Rizkiyah, Achlan Fahlevi Royanow, Saiful Fahmi, Hendri Yadi Saputra https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2025-05-20 2025-05-20 4 2 49 59 10.55123/toba.v4i2.5065 An Analysis of Event Experiences (A Case Study of The Script's Satellites World Tour at Jatim Expo, Surabaya) https://journal.literasisains.id/index.php/toba/article/view/5162
This study analyzes the event experience of The Script’s Satellites World Tour at Jatim Expo, Surabaya, focusing on four key dimensions: affective engagement, cognitive engagement, physical engagement, and experiencing newness. Using a case study design with a descriptive qualitative approach, data were gathered through surveys and semi-structured interviews with five concert attendees. The findings highlight that the concert successfully delivered a memorable audience experience across all four dimensions, providing both entertainment and reflective value. Nonetheless, some weaknesses were identified, especially regarding the placement of the festival area, which limited visibility and reduced the emotional connection for certain audience members. Despite these challenges, the event effectively engaged attendees affectively, cognitively, and physically, while offering them a sense of novelty and excitement. To further improve future audience experiences, it is recommended that concert organizers assess and enhance the technical setup and venue layout to ensure better visibility and stronger engagement for all attendees.
Ni Putu Lilik Widyayanthi Isvari Ayu Pitanatri Ni Kadek Sri Mirayani Putu Wira Parama Suta Copyright (c) 2025 Ni Putu Lilik Widyayanthi, Isvari Ayu Pitanatri, Ni Kadek Sri Mirayani, Putu Wira Parama Suta https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2025-05-20 2025-05-20 4 2 60 67 10.55123/toba.v4i2.5162 Special Interest Tourism Research Trends in Indonesian Journals: A Review from Design to Analysis https://journal.literasisains.id/index.php/toba/article/view/5197
This study aims to map the trends and characteristics of special interest tourism research in Indonesia in the period 2020–2024. The method used is content analysis with a focus on six main aspects: number of publications per year, type of research, research subjects, tourism topics studied, data collection instruments, and data analysis methods. Data were obtained through a systematic search on Google Scholar on April 26, 2025 using the keyword "special interest tourism." From approximately 104,000 initial results, after filtering based on year of publication and title relevance, 74 data were obtained, of which only 42 articles were fully accessible and 34 of them were used as research samples. The results show fluctuations in publication trends, with significant spikes in 2023 and 2024. Qualitative research dominates, while quantitative and mixed methods are still minimal. The most frequently used instruments are observation sheets and triangulation, while common data analysis techniques include SWOT and qualitative descriptive. Government and tourists emerged as the most research subjects, reflecting a focus on tourist policies and experiences. The topics studied are very diverse, ranging from tourist behavior, environmental conservation, tourist villages, to tourism product innovation. This study concludes that special interest tourism is increasingly in demand as a field of study, but the methodological approach still tends to be exploratory and descriptive. It is recommended to strengthen quantitative and mixed-method methods and expand the focus of research on policy, creative economy, and sustainability. These results are expected to be an initial reference for researchers and stakeholders in developing more comprehensive special interest tourism research in the future.
Muharis Muharis Muhammad Taufik Bagas Anggara Abdul Muhid Copyright (c) 2025 Muharis Muharis, Muhammad Taufik, Bagas Anggara https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2025-05-20 2025-05-20 4 2 68 75 10.55123/toba.v4i2.5197 Evaluasi Manajemen Event Gelar Melayu Serumpun Kota Medan, Sumatera Utara https://journal.literasisains.id/index.php/toba/article/view/5050
This study aims to evaluate the management of the Gelar Melayu Serumpun Event held in Medan City, North Sumatra, as part of an effort to preserve Malay culture and improve local tourism. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study method by adapting Golbalt's theory. Purposive sampling technique was used to select relevant informants, including two members of the Tourism Office, one person from the event organizer, one member of the native Malay community, and one visitor. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and documentation analysis. The results of the study indicate that cross-agency coordination, especially between the Tourism Office and the event organizer, went well, especially in terms of technical planning and more innovative stage design compared to the previous year. However, there were several weaknesses such as limited facilities for visitors and less than optimal booth arrangement in displaying Malay culture. Nevertheless, this event was considered successful in promoting Malay cultural identity to local and international communities and increasing participation from delegations from related countries. This evaluation provides several recommendations for future improvements, especially in terms of improving visitor facilities and mitigating weather-related risks. With better planning, Gelar Melayu Serumpun has great potential to become a sustainable cultural event and can further support the development of Medan City's tourism sector.
Adillah Falisa Dilmy Apriliani Lase Copyright (c) 2025 Adillah Falisa Dilmy, Apriliani Lase https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2025-05-20 2025-05-20 4 2 76 85 10.55123/toba.v4i2.5050 Inovasi Nelayan pada Ekowisata Kampoeng Kepiting, Tuban, Bali https://journal.literasisains.id/index.php/toba/article/view/5179
Fishermen community in the Tuban area is well aware of the ongoing tourism activities and criticizes these activities for providing limited benefits to them. One manifestation of this change is the emergence of the phenomenon of Instagrammable tourism, a tourism trend based on visual aesthetics that encourages tourists to choose destinations not only because of cultural or natural values, but also because of their shareable visual appeal. This study aims to systematically and critically examine the literature that discusses destination visualization in the context of social media, especially Instagram, with a focus on the construction of meaning, aesthetic curation, and its implications for tourist behavior and destination branding strategies. Using a literature study approach, this article identifies six main themes: the conceptualization of Instagrammable tourism, visual representation of destinations, digital aesthetics and visual culture, the influence of content on tourist intentions and loyalty, social media-based branding strategies, and the ethical and ecological impacts of visual dominance. The results of the study show that destination visualization not only shapes tourist perceptions but also forms new norms in tourism consumption and space production. On the other hand, excessive aestheticization also presents serious challenges such as the overcommodification of local culture, loss of authenticity, and ecological pressures due to digital overtourism. This study suggests the need for a sustainable, contextual and ethical visual approach in social media-based tourism development.
Wahyu Wibowo Ahmad Choiri Nur Azizah Panggabean Nur Fatiha Nur Rahmi irfaniah Copyright (c) 2025 Wahyu Wibowo, Ahmad Choiri, Nur Azizah Panggabean, Nur Fatiha, Nur Rahmi irfaniah https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2025-05-20 2025-05-20 4 2 111 119 10.55123/toba.v4i2.5383 Nyarik Kopi di Tabanan Bali: Estetika, Otentisitas, dan Digital Engagement sebagai Daya Tarik Wisata Modern https://journal.literasisains.id/index.php/toba/article/view/4531
This study examines the phenomenon of Nyarik Kopi as a culinary tourism attraction that serves as a modern tourism destination rooted in local aesthetics and authenticity in Tabanan, Bali.
