Abstract

Stroke is one of the diseases that leaves the most lasting impact on patients, ranging from physical limitations to significant changes in psychological condition and social life. Since recovery is rarely straightforward, stroke patients rely heavily on those around them, particularly their families. This study aimed to examine how far family support influences the quality of life of stroke patients across different conditions and recovery phases. A systematic review method following PRISMA guidelines was used, with literature searches conducted through three online databases: Google Scholar, Garuda, and PubMed, using keyword combinations with Boolean operators AND and OR. Articles included in this review were original studies in Indonesian or English, published between 2021 and 2026, using observational study designs, and available in full text. Article quality was assessed using the JBI Critical Appraisal Checklist for Analytical Cross-Sectional Studies. Out of 26,056 articles identified, 11 articles met the inclusion criteria and were used in the final analysis. Eight of the 11 articles analyzed reported that family support was positively associated with quality of life in stroke patients, covering physical, psychological, and social dimensions. The findings from most studies show that family support is an important factor in the quality of life of stroke patients, though its impact does not always look the same depending on each patient's condition and stage of recovery.
