Gambaran Kejadian Shivering Intraoperasi pada Pasien dengan Teknik Spinal Anestesi di Instalasi Bedah Sentral RSUD dr. Soedirman Kebumen

Spinal anesthesia is the primary choice for abdominal and lower extremity surgery. Although effective, this technique carries the risk of thermoregulatory dysfunction in the form of shivering, a repetitive involuntary muscle activity that triggers an increase in metabolism of more than 400% and exacerbates pain in the surgical wound area. This study aims to identify the incidence of intraoperative shivering in patients with spinal anesthesia at the Central Surgical Installation of Dr. Soedirman Hospital, Kebumen. This study employs a quantitative descriptive method with a cross-sectional approach. A sample of 60 respondents was selected using consecutive sampling based on inclusion criteria. Data were collected through observation of shivering degrees using the Crossley and Mahajan scale and recording of respondent characteristics, which were then analyzed univariately. The results indicated that most respondents were female (73.3%), aged 26-35 years (28.3%) and 36-45 years (28.3%), and underwent moderate surgery lasting 60-120 minutes (56.7%). The highest Body Mass Index (BMI) was in the normal and overweight categories (41.7%, respectively). The most common intraoperative shivering incidents were grade 2 (63.3%), followed by grade 1 (33.3%), and grade 3 (3.3%). This study concluded that moderate shivering is a dominant problem that requires special attention in the perioperative management of spinal anesthesia patients.
