Background: Long-term hemodialysis sustains survival in patients with chronic kidney disease, but repeated treatment, symptom burden, comorbidities, and psychosocial demands may affect their quality of life. Objective: This study examined the association between hemodialysis duration and quality of life among patients with chronic kidney disease at Dok II Regional General Hospital, Jayapura City. Methods: An analytic cross-sectional study was conducted from January to July 2026. Thirty-three adult patients undergoing routine hemodialysis were recruited using consecutive sampling. Hemodialysis duration was recorded in months, and quality of life was measured using the Indonesian version of the Kidney Disease Quality of Life Short Form 36 (KDQOL-SF 36). Data were summarized descriptively and analyzed using Spearman's rank correlation. Results: Most respondents had undergone hemodialysis for 12–36 months (51.5%) and had moderate quality of life (60.6%). The overall mean KDQOL-SF 36 score was 55.6. Median scores increased across the duration groups, from 34.0 among patients treated for <12 months to 56.0 for 12–36 months and 69.0 for >36 months. Hemodialysis duration was strongly and positively correlated with the KDQOL-SF 36 score (rho=0.753; p<0.001). Conclusion: Longer hemodialysis duration was associated with better quality-of-life scores in this sample. Because of the cross-sectional design and limited sample, the finding should not be interpreted as a causal effect.
